The Risograph is a high-speed digital printing
system manufactured by the Riso Kagaku Corporation and designed mainly for
high-volume photocopying. Increasingly, the Risograph Duplicator it is more
commonly referred to as a RISO Printer-Duplicator, due to its common usage as
a network printer as well as a stand-alone duplicator. When printing or
copying multiple quantities (generally more than 20) of the same original, the
Risograph is typically far less expensive per page than a conventional
photocopier, laser printer, or inkjet printer.
The process of the Risograph Duplicator is similar to that of an offset
printer or an old time mimeograph machine where they had to type on this
really messy blue parchment, and then attach it to the drum, and then crank
the handle and watch the copies fly!! The Risograph has eliminated all of the
mess and old time procedures:
The Risograph Duplicator process is quite simple, and the Risograph
looks and acts just like a regular copier on the outside. The only difference
is the internal mechanism. The original is placed on the glass platen; it is
scanned, and transferred onto a paper “master”. This master is then placed
(automatically) on the cylinder and the paper is passed under the cylinder;
the paper is copied onto (there is no bending of the paper) and it goes
straight on through to the out tray.
So, if you are in the market for a high speed, economical printing
format for many many copies, the Risograph may be just what you’re looking
for. While we do not sell the actual Risograph Duplicator, we do sell the
Risograph brand black ink, Master paper, (in three different thicknesses), red
ink, bright red ink, bright blue ink, blue ink, and green ink. We also have
some compatibles that are guaranteed 100% to work with your Risograph
Duplicator.
